The Dwarven Wedding Session 9
Session #9 of The Dwarven Wedding.
Date: December 19th, 2016
Character Level: 6th
Summary
In the wake of the fight, Luana gives all of the unconscious men goodberries. Our heroes wake the unconscious gnome known as Brownbeard and slightly heal captain Argyle. Immediately, the heroes begin to interrogate Brownbeard but in a flash, Remnant snaps and draws a sword claiming to be "Bayern Torunn" slashing at Brownbeard. He immediately falls unconscious to the deck.
Brownbeard reveals that he works for a master Pirate, someone even Argyle Volstav fears: Axel Stormkind1. This man is the "pirate king" of the riverlands and nearby seas. He is a man who can control the weather and cast lightning at will due to a relic he found in a storm. After revealing all, Argyle steps in to "take care" of the prisoner in his own chambers.
As Brownbeard is taken away, Remnant wakes up but is no longer Remnant... he calls himself Barrion Bulf--a young cadet from the Dragon Wars (who isn't aware of gnomes). He seems to understand that he was "summoned" but is not sure why. Barrion reveals information about old Dwarven culture:
- Many dwarven people submit their consciousness to arcane-runes that are then later used in units like Remnant (or in libraries to recall history)
- The minds/consciousness of these people have one or more purpose
- Remnant stores many of these runes within him
Tolnor frowns at the loss of his "friend" Remnant (because they won't be reading any more of Dwarves, A History).
After some discussion with Barrion, the mind realized he was no longer needed and Remnant was Remnant once again.
Verity goes to chat with Captain Argyle and finds that he is determined to get to Marsh to deliver their cargo. She leaves the captain to kill Brownbeard, who he was "interrogating" in his chambers. After revealing this to the rest of the gang, Luana sneaks off to find out what that cargo is. In her own fashion of sneaking, she stumbles upon the containing area of the Water Elemental powering the ship as well as three large black chests she can't manage to get open.
Near the end of the day, Argyle approaches the heroes and explains that he is encouraging everyone to get off the ship at Riverbend (and refunding them a part of the fee for travel) after hearing that Stormkind is perusing the river lands. But, despite that, he is also committed to getting anyone who wishes to stay to Marsh--even if it means facing Stormkind.
Tolnor pushes to leave the ship because he still has a job to take care of: Arthur Bulkura. And Remnant asks the gnomes on the ship about Gnomish Construct Masters (they live in South Kase).
