Summary

Upon coming across a pair of sleeping Cyclops, our heroes vanquish their foes, curious of how the large beasts were able to make it into such a small place. They gather their wits and move into the next room, where crystalline patterns line the floor. Hadarri, wary of a trap, investigates as Remnant daringly moves to try to trigger anything he can--all the while, Luana frolics throughout the room. Finding no traps, they suspiciously move through the room. On the wall to the west, it is written:

DEATH IS THE ONLY EXIT.

Suddenly, a wave of power presses upon them. A being of some sort calls out to them from the far end of the room, yelling that he will kill them if they don't leave. After a moment of discussion, they press on.

Luana, however, sneaks past this unknown foe and finds a lair of some sort off to the east side of the room. Within, she sees riches and potions of all sorts, but as a small mouse, cannot take anything with her. She catches up to the group as they enter the next room to the west.

Within this room, there are two objects:

  • Two tapestries on the north wall - [description goes here...]
  • A mirror with a half circle covering the floor in front of it.

After observing the tapestries [insert descriptions and lore], Hadarri investigates the mirror. He finds it magical in nature--something called The Mirror of Demise. This mirror shows the viewer their own death. Hadarri thinks on the idea of this mirror and recalls that it is supposed to be stowed away by the Vi'leigh in their hidden castle.

Verity steps into the half-circle in front of the mirror, despite Hadarri's protest. In a snap, she is, mentally, taken from the room, seeing herself face-to-face. She is in a forest. War-weathered and carrying a trident. The sounds of battle are all around her. There is a snap, and a yell. She kills a dozen elven warriors, but from behind her a spear presses upwards through her chest, killing her. Her body falls to the ground. And Verity is taken out of the vision.

Verity explains her vision. Hadarri argues that there is no way the mirror can see your true demise. Verity begs to differ, as no one can really know. Hadari recalls that one may see their demise, certainly, but each viewing may be different and the more one attempts to view themselves, the more of a strain, mentally, it is on them. The Vi'leigh used to use this to torture their captives during war.

Remnant, being curious, steps into the half-circle in front of the mirror and is, mentally, taken from the room, seeing himself somewhere on a mountain. He feels the heat of a nearby lavaflow. He is on the top of an active volcano. He looks to his left and hundreds of living statues, identical to him, are swarming. In seconds he is overrun and thrown into an open lavaflow nearby. The pain is intense. And he snaps out of it.

Again, despite the protests of Hadarri, Verity steps in front of the mirror. In this vision, she sees herself again on the battlefield. The same trident, but in this instance, a booming voice calls out to her. A god-like voice. The fights a few warriors away and comes to face an unseen enemy. The enemy laughs ferociously as they battle, if only for a second, before bright green whips last out and slice Verity down. She snaps away.

Remnant insists on stepping in again, and is transported back to the volcanic mountain. But in this case, there are not hundreds of himself. Only one, large, statue man. His monstrous hand scoops Remnant up and crushes him, then tosses his pieces into the volcano.

Back in reality, Hadarri and Luana (and Redfurl who is just there for the ride at this point) refuse to see their fates. They move onto the next door.
