Part One Summary

The teams forces increase when Killy comes to town. Meeting up with Deadman and MRV outside Deadman's temporary apartment, they receive an offer from one of Deadman's old fixer contacts, Orphan.

The team heads to The Old City Bazaar where they meet Dynamite, one of the runners working for Orphan, who leads them to the meetup where the team grows again with the addition of the dwarf, Mirrors.

Orphan describes the job, a personnel recovery job in which they are being payed to extract the Ares Macrotechnology engineer, Henry Johnston, from an Ares vehicle release event. They are told the job will not pay very much, but while in an Ares facility they will have access to information and paydata that will make the run worthwhile.

From the meetup location, MRV and Killy are sent to rendesvous with a Matrix contact that will grant them a key to access the space above the Ares event location where the paydata will most likely be located. Talking with the matrix contact with the moniker of 'The Royal', MRV and Killy's skills are tested. A test that they pass with flying colors. The two of them are enough to overpower 'The Royal', stealing the access key file and replacing it with elicit material, and making their escape back to meatspace.

Meanwhile, Deadman and Mirror are sent to retrieve an magical item from a local talismonger. Upon entering the talismongers shop, the two discover that the magical item in question is an amulet capable of nullifying and absorbing magic. They negotiate with the talismonger, getting the amulet and returning to meetup with the rest of the team.

Prepped, equipped, and outfitted with clothing from a tailor contact of Orphans, the team heads into the city to attend the Ares gala event.

The group hits a roadblock almost immediately when they are asked to check weapons at the door, which they do, though with some effort and subterfuge, Mirror is able to hang on to the largest of his many guns. Rubbing elbows with some of the other guests and getting a lay of the land, Deadman meets celebrity Veronica Stratham and is able to create a distraction while MRV and Killy sneak out of the event space and use the key to access the upper floors.

On the upper floors, MRV and Killy come across the buildings network security room in which they discover the Ares network spider. He is wearing strange VR gear with an Omega symbol embossed in its side, and almost immediately the spider is aware of the teams presence.
