Session #14 of The Dwarven Wedding.
Date: March 12th, 2017
Character Level: 6th
Summary
After discussing the requirements of the ritual needed to "fix" Remnant, our heroes decide they need to find a Dragon Egg in the north mines (north of Thain-win). Before they leave, Verity reminds everyone that they need to take care of Tolnor's body, but Luana, teary-eyed, refuses.
Remnant wakes up in the bunk of the caravan, magically tied up by Hadari. It's here that they discuss how to contain the memory of Eran Bulkura who was wreaking havoc1.
Seeing Luana upset over the death of Tolnor, Remnant reveals that he thinks the personality of Tolnor (his soul?) is now contained within him. Luana loses it. Upon hearing all of this, Hadari thinks the entire party is as risk given his debt to Titania. If his soul is ever exposed through Remnant, Titania's connection to Tolnor may resurface and she may come find them.
The group arrives at a sanctuary of Pelor. It's here that Hadari is recognized. His wife was a devout follower of Pelor. After some convincing from Hadari, Luana agrees to have Tolnor's ashes stored in a quartz crystal. Something Hadari had done when his wife died. Within a few hours, the deed is done and Luana is given a crystal from one of the priests. Hadari let's Luana know that through this crystal and deep prayer to Pelor, she may be able to speak with Tolnor again.
Before leaving for the mines north of the city (the caravan now being pulled by Ceran, Hadari's construct-polar-bear), our party decides to visit a market nearby for wares. Remnant goes off on his own, as does Luana (to stalk Remnant), and Verity plays a few tunes for the people in a nearby square. In the final chorus of a song, a handsome human man chimes in to assist Verity--something she is not pleased about. When the song ends, the man approaches her.
This man is Garret Delf, an ex-boyfriend of Verity's. Seeing her after "all these years," he offers her a spot in his gang: The Blue Boys. They plan on heading into the mines of Thain-win because there's "something worth a lot of money" that can be found. After some smack talk and Garret's party showing up (A dwarven woman, a gnome in robes, and a half-orc taller than most humanoids), they head out on their way.
Luana follows the group into the mines. At a fork, the path right is marked with a "DO NOT ENTER" sign, which they pull down and walk past, but Luana fixes the sign back up, hopefully sealing them in.
Remnant returns with a horse (that he named Maria) and a cart for Ricky--their ever-faithful companion. He offers this to Ricky and tells him to go on his way, after a huge hug to Verity and a lot of goodbyes, Ricky heads out back to... anywhere.
In the end, the gang heads off to find Professor Redfurl, and Remnant admits he doesn't want to fight any more. He sees no point.
"It only leads to pointless death."
Notes
1 - Remnant: "Fixing us kills us."
- Dragon Eggs
- These eggs are laid in clutches of four every ten years, but can be nurtured indefinitely
- Eggs are nurtured until the female dragon chooses a suitable mate to bless one of the four eggs with life
- Once chosen, the other eggs are destroyed or used for trade
- Dwarves used to deal with Dragons for other eggs (ie. discarded eggs) in exchange for gold, sacrifice, and alliances against greater enemies.
- Dragon Eggs can survive one week without nursing (heat)
- Marsh has a large sanctuary to Titania
- Vi'leigh keeps the dragons that dwell in and around the northern mountain at bay... somehow.
