The Dwarven Wedding Session 13

Session #13 of The Dwarven Wedding.

Summary

Our heroes decide to find a scientist to try to fix the now broken Remnant, but he has taken on a new personality--someone our heroes have never met before. Remnant tries to escape, but Verity casts a Hold Person spell on him to force him to go to the house of Melnor. This elf was very old and very confused about Remnant and what exactly he was. He recommends they seek out a man named Hadari Felnaras on the campus housing district of a university in Thain-win.

On the way to see Hadari, Remnant begins fighting back against the group trying to escape claiming to be someone who has to find treasure. After bickering and spell-slinging between Remnant (aka Eran Bulkura) and Verity, Verity manages to cast a Charm Person on Remnant and convince him to come into see the newly met Hadari. Once let in to thoroughly discuss the problem with Remnant, our heroes (Luana and Verity at least) make themselves at home. Luana finds cookies. Oh, and Hadari has a giant polar bear-construct that he uses as a guardian of sorts.

After some explanation from Verity, she releases Eran to be looked at by Hadari. Eran claims to be a "modern archaeologist" (also known as "thief") in search of a treasure he left behind.

Hadaritakes Remnant down to his lab (in the basement of his apartment). While investigating Remnant, Hadari discovers power runes exposed on the construct:

• On the back of Remnant's neck: the Separation rune: ᛉ
• Within the bookshelf of Remnant's chest: the Containment rune: ᛗ

After his investigation, Hadari understands that if he continues to poke and prod around the construct, it will likely become "defensive" and no longer expose itself to him for further investigation.

While looking inside of Remnant's chest, he finds the instructions for a ritual that may allow him to adjust or select the personalities of Remnant. But in order to do so, he needs components:

• Ruby, 3" in diameter cut into the shape of a diamond
• 2oz Mercury
• 1 Lodestone
• 25g Soot
• Fresh Dragon's egg yolk
• 8" Copper Wire
• 1 Quartz crystal

Most of the items can be taken from the University, save the Dragon's egg yolk.

The gang brings up the name Professor Redfurl to Hadari who immediately recognizes the name. He and (Josani) Redfurl used to build small constructs together (aka Battlebots) and they're old friends.

Hadari asks Verity to go fetch the items he knows the University has with him--this was a cover so they could speak privately. Luana trails them despite being asked to stay. The university has everything save the 3" Ruby--currently being used by Thurgood (another construct specialist in town) and there's no Dragon's Egg Yolk.

Upon their return, they find Remnant (Eran) stuck under Hadari's construct as he was trying to steal whatever he could from Hadari's lab. And Hadari knocks him out with a hammer.
