Session #7 of Kidnapped, or was it?.

Play Date: September 29th, 2016

DM Summary

Metropolis!

Having traveled with the caravan to Birsk, it seems that our heroes have set their sights on plunder, magic weapons, and glory!

Smash haggled with a Jeweler named stout merchant named Don to forge a symbol of power with jewels and items Smash had collected and after selling some Obsidian, our heroes made their way to a magic item store, a recommendation from Don. After finding no leads at the store, outside of making a bet with the store owner (an old elven woman named Yurin) for a "golf club", our heroes find themselves at Birsk's famous Coliseum to register for Coliseum XLII. After registration, The Professor caught sight of the slender, strange-looking guard of Seaside's Prince Randall submitting his registration for the coliseum games.

Paying the 200 gold for registration, Smash, The Professor, and Phineaus make their way to the toughest looking bar in the Coliseum bar strip--The Sinew Stretch. Upon entering and wishing to find the best seat in the house, Smash verbally challenges a mighty looking Dwarf and his fellows (aka Sven and his merry band of brothers), but being a fine warrior, Smash intimidates them out of their seats, and the bar itself.

As the time passes, our heroes drink and eat at The Sinew Stretch when suddenly Magnus the Wizard appears, excited to see our group of heroes together in Birsk. He informs them of a few fighters in Coliseum XLII and that he had placed bets on many of them. Before he mysteriously misted away, he slips some information (and 200gp each) to our group about a better ring run by Arwin the Bookie in a shadier part of town. And as many poor adventurer's would, hearing of a certain way to make gold quickly, the headed off to find Arwin's establishment.

After a short amount of time, our heroes find a pristine home in a wrecked, poor neighborhood. Charmed with lights from nowhere on the front lawn, they are let in by a large lurching fellow with a desperate, scared look on his face. Our heroes make bets on the Coliseum XLII fights after hearing odds on Smash, but before they leave Arwin asks a favor: allow one of her "friends" (Shivora) to join their group for the next few days (and travel with them to the Coliseum events) to save 100gp on each of their bets, to which they agree.

Feeling decidedly excited, our heroes decide to visit another bar before turning in for the night, The Greasy Grease, easily the most run-down bar in Birsk. While mostly empty, the majority of patrons were old, tired dwarves, save two young, suspicious dwarves in the corner of the bar. Wanting to investigate, our heroes find a table nearest to the dwarves. A few moments later, one of the dwarves (a large Hades tattoo on his arm) goes to leave, but is stopped as Phineaus manages to convince him to sit down to have a drink, and a few moments after the other dwarf joins them. In a miracle of persuasion, the Hades dwarf (Jorn) spills some information about magic weapons in the Coliseum fights (and a past fight with a magic tornado!) to which the other dwarf stands up to leave, taking Jorn with him.

But our heroes would not let that happen and they struck down the other dwarf, forcing Jorn to surrender.
