Lemony Thaddeus Mason

Appearance

Three and a half feet tall with a wide, cheerful grin, Lem is not an imposing figure. His expressive face is topped with loose dark brown-green hair and below his hawkish nose is a cleanly trimmed goatee of similar color. He is wiry and quick, his body tough and weathered from years working in the wilderness. When traveling, he favors simple clothing: a forest colored poncho wrap over a stained cotton shirt and brown breeches, and worn leather boots. When out and about he wears an almost-too-large, floppy, tan-colored canvas hat.

Backstory

Growing up outside of Kase, Lem always had a fondness for nature and animals. When circumstances in his life suddenly changed for the worse, he joined the Ramblers Trailhead and Forestry Association as a means of escape. With the help of his new friends in the Ramblers, Lem traveled to Highland Crossing where he spent a year studying maps and learning about the flora and fauna of the river-lands and beyond. The last few years have seen him journeying north, clearing trails and hunting beasts west of the Deepwoods and at the base of the mountains of Thain-win.

Lem is a positive force of will. Physically dexterous and equally quick witted, he is fast friends with other travelers and animals alike. Working outdoors for most of his life, he isn't worried by many of the physical challenges that come before him as he believes persistence and grit can get anyone through anything.

2019-12-22

• The mountain party discovers that Hark and Redfurl were taken into the mountain by a pair of purple worms.
• This is strange as purple worms do not usually take people alive.
• The party makes their way into the mountain through the tunnels created by the purple worms.
• Tracking the worms through the tunnels, the party comes upon a company of dwarves that appear to be wrangling the two purple worms.
  • Redfurl and Hark are magically strapped to one of the worms.
• The dwarves are led by Bartleby Bulf, the king’s brother.
  • He tells the party that they have been harried by purple worms and an unknown evil for the past few days and have tracked these worms here to find out what is behind the coordinated purple worm attacks.
• A voice speaks, calling the monstrosities to drag the party and the dwarven company “beyond a threshold.”
  • awful spider demon dog monsters appear.
• We fight the purple worms and their friends.
  • Bartleby’s son Needler is devoured by a worm.
  • Yenla dominates one of the worms and frees Needler
  • Gawkler frees Hark and Redfurl from the work by tearing the flesh of the worm
• Bartleby doesn’t know if the kingdom of Bulf still exists after the mountain collapsed.
• The party plans to send the remaining purple worm away and take the dwarven company up to the surface through the tunnel.
• The plan is to travel overland through the mountains to the city of Bulf with the dwarven company in tow.
• Before we can enact the plan, the cavern begins to collapse and the party is split from the dwarves.
  • Oh no!
• We send the dwarves to the surface through the tunnel and the party delves deeper into the caverns.
• We stumble upon a contingent of drow performing a ritual.
  • A HAND EMERGES FROM A PORTAL!
  • A PORTAL!!!

2019-12-01

• Lem travels to Pence as part of his last job for the RTFA.
  • Gets information from the RTFA agent named Ranter Olfson.
• Meets with Argyle and the Tiefling priest named Paris Parcel who are looking to aid the group that Lem met once in the mountains.
• Paris takes Lem to the temple of Pelor.
  • Lem is given a set of magical wooden knee armor from the old magic tree.
  • Lem must get this set to Luana.
• Lem travels north with Argyle, Paris, Gawkler the Terrible, Hadari, and Hadari's daughter Yenla.
  • They sail north to Marsh in Argyle's ship The Seahorse.
  • The gang all talks about their children and scheduling future play-dates.
• We make our way through the mountains, encountering a crater in the mountains on the way to Bulf.
• On the trail, we are attacked by a drow leading a group of giant spiders.
• Everyone gets hurt real bad.
  • Brock is gravely injured.
  • Lem summons the power of the Great Tree to bolster himself.
• Yenla and Lem identify that Hark and Redfurl were dragged away into the mountain by purple worms.
  • Perhaps another group of drow with worms instead of spiders?
• The party agrees to rest before heading into the mountain.
  • Whew! Thank goodness because Lem and Brock were looking bad.
